In a short 9 years, Alex and Brodie have accomplished what so many other novelists have failed to do in an entire lifetime ... that is, combine an action-packed romance with the a wartime tragedy, expertly interwoven with an illusive mystery. And all within a mere 10 pages ... a true achievement. There are no wasted words in this page-turner of a tale. Somehow the authors managed to completely avoid the long boring descriptions of every detail that most other romance novelists tend to cling to -- almost use as a crutch -- just in order to make their books feel bigger and heavier. Alex and Brodie have shown a great deal of respect for their readers' busy schedules. The story itself of Tom and Yomi is as compelling as ever, each chapter ending with a cliff hanger that makes it impossible to put the book down. The scenes involving the war are so well written and realistic that this reader felt as if the battles were taking place in his own house. This reader was particularly impressed with the portrayal of a female war hero in the 1800s, a character not often seen even in modern times. Congratulations to Alex and Brodie for their remarkable entrance into the world of literature. This one will be difficult to top; nevertheless we wish them best of luck on future endeavors.Product details

I would definitely recommend this book for all parents out there, as third graders created this book. Lots of humor, not in the events of the book, but in how they are portrayed
Action-packed yet tender. Harrowing but ultimately hopeful. With insights into dating and love which will benefit readers of all ages!
