Jack Gilbert is many things to many people. Lover, adulterer, murderer, politician, and corporate giant are but a few titles he has earned. It is his thirst for more that can never be quenched, and as each new generation of Gilberts emerges, there is little realization that the family’s wealth has come at great expense to others. If the love of money is the root of all evil, Jack Gilbert is the devil personified.

An amazing novel describing the ascent of a family over the hungry years of the depression to present day success of aristocracy. The story covers many subjects from the excitement of romance and love, sorrow over the loss of loved ones, bravery in dealing with criminals, violence and heroism during wars, as well as the rise from poverty to extreme success in business and politics.Product details

Generations Birth of an American Aristocracy
GENERATIONS BIRTH OF AN AMERICAN ARISTOCRACY by Jon D. Zimmer.
This book starts out during World War I and the depression, World War II, Vietnam and concludes in our time. The book reads like a biography with very little emotions and more of a "matter-of-fact" attitude which I found very refreshing. At first I thought it was odd but what I found with JD Zimmerman's style of writing that I couldn't stop turning the pages.
JD never misses or flubs up during his narration of the historical line and never backs up to explain any part of the four generational aristocracy. There are a few places in the book that I believe are significant and don't want you to miss them so I am going to quote from his book these sections and as you read the book you will see why these areas are important. It won't make sense till you read the book. So go buy yourself the book because these areas are very important in the meat of the book and in the era of the time it was written.
On page 43, paragraph four, line three he writes, "The wealthy have no desire to pay a little larger share than they are now. These are powerful people, they thrive by discrediting and politically castrating people like me, calling me a socialist or a communist, even an anarchist". Further down Mr. Zimmerman writes, "I want them to become one of my victims." On the same page paragraph six JD writes, "their success cannot come at the impoverishment of others." (Does this remind you of today?)
On page 64, paragraph four, line 10, "Maybe this is why humanity was cast out of the Garden of Eden. God saw that everything was better off without man around, and man had to prove himself worthy to return." This is in regards with Michael, the first of the Gilbert generation and his feelings about his fellow man during his time as a soldier in World War I. What happens to Jack in World War II, or David in Vietnam?
None of the four generational Gilbert's ever wanted to be rich but they do become extremely rich and at the end of the book David Gilbert looks at his children and wonders what damage he has created with his own children. To find out what becomes of the Gilbert's you'll have to read the book.
